How to Prototype

📌 Set a time limit. Whether it's 24 hours or 3 days, a time limit will force you to move quickly and focus on the bare minimum.
📌 Need for speed: coding and design decisions should be all about speed: what can you get done in the allotted time. Bye-bye Dependency Injection and hello Singletons.
📌 Use the tools you already know. You want to maximize your time on the actual prototype and not learning technology to do it.

📌 Failure is just testing. Don't be afraid to take risks and try something creative. You are prototyping for a reason, to test if your idea can actually work.
📌 Limit scope: Choose one or two main features to focus on and then hammer them out. Your most valuable asset is time; so don't waste time thinking about features you can't implement.
📌 Develop in parallel when working on a team. During the middle phase of development, find tasks that can be worked on separately and then later integrate them all together.
📌 Brainstorm quickly and decisively. Your idea does not have to be perfect, "A good plan now is better than a great plan later."
📌 Experiment: You're taking a concept from paper to actual implementation, and not everything will work as planned. Experiment and test adjustments as you prototype, you never know what you'll discover.
